The Manchester Block it the centre of the Manawatu Timber Industry, threefourths of tho Saw Mills in that County being situated on the Block. Taking into consideration the quality of the soil, its accessibility and proximity to Railway Communication, the land on the Manchester Block is by iar the cheapest now offering to the would-be settler. Tke population of the Block is at present about 3,600. Price, 60s per acre. 45a per acre of the purchase money can remain on mortgags for S years and upwards if desired, at 7 per cent., and further, in order to meet the views of settlers who desire te use all their capital in improving their purchase, the Corporation will refund the 15s per acre in the shape of a further advance on mortgage at 7 per cent, when the purchaser has completed improvements on tbe land to that value, without further expense for deeds, Ac. This to the bona fide settler who necessarily improves his land is equivalent to allowing the whole of the purchase money to remain on mortgage at 7 per cent., or arrangements can be made with the agent by which improvement* to be effected within one year can stand in the place of the 25 per cent, deposit (timber sections excepted). The purchaser can also have the privilege of paying off at any time the whole or part of the purchase money, such part to be not less than £50, with a proportionate redaction in interest.
