Mr Stout said the House, by affirming the amendment of the member for Port Chalmers, affirmed the principle that the resolutions as a whole were negatived. ■■■■'■■'. The Hon. Mr Stoat said their was no breach of faith involved in his aotien. I Major Atkinson asked the Speaker's ruling on the question. The Speaker said his impression wm that Mr Macandrew's amendment only affected the particular resolution that had been before the House. - , The Hon. Mr Stout said he was- aofc prepared to postpone the orders of the day. The motion for the adjournment of the House was then pnt and lost. BILLS DISCHASQKD. , . The Hon. Mr Stout moved that the Municipal Corporations Bill and the Ee presentations Act Amendment Bill be discharged trom the Order Paper. Mr Wakefield asked the reason why the Representation Bill was withdrawn. The Hon. Mr Stout said it was impossible this year to get the four principal cities to agree to the bill. Dunedin and Wellington were already in favor of it, but the other two cities were nof as yetinclined to support the measure. He hoped by next session to be in a position to pass the bill. The motion for the discharge of the two bills was carried. The Babbit Nuisance Continuance Bill was read a third time and passed. Mortgages Debentures Bill was reported with amendments; Land Tranfer Bill was reported with amendments; Gold Mining Districts Bill was farther considered in committee, and read a third time and passed.
