Taupo. This Day. Since the fatal b«at accident which resulted in the drowning of Mr Ashman, two or three parties hare beea dragging the lake, but without success. All hopes are now giren mp as to the recovery of the body of the na fortunate gentleman. Two hundred and sixty head »f fat cattle arrired here yesterday from McHardy's statioi, Hawkes Bay,, en route for the Auckland market. This is the largest mob of cattle that has passed through in one drove. At the native meeting now being held at Eotorua religious discussions appear to be the order of the day, and the individualising of land. About the coming Land Court the natives are anxiously esquiring when that court will be held.
