Frozen Meat Trade

1 Late telegraphic advices from London have not been very encouraging to shippers, as prices have fallen further. At last reported, New Zealand Frozen Mutton was selling at 4£d per lb, on a full market with heavy arrivals.

I Christchurch. — On the 30th ultimo, ■ the s.s. Riniutaka sailed for London carrying from Lyttelton, 4,093 carcases mutton, and 80 quarters beef. At the Belfast Freezing Works, the following cargoes are being prepared, viz. — 7,000 sheep and 50 head of cattle for the s.s. Tainui, 4,000 sheep each for the s.s. Ruapehu and the s.s. Doric, and about 6,000 sheep for the s.s. Kaikoura.

Auckland. — The New Zealand Frozen Meat and Storage Company Limited has ready for shipment about 5,000 carcases mutton. The lot will be shipped per s.s. Doric, about the first week in September. The company is now preparing another shipment of between 5,000 and 6,000 carcases mutton intended for the s.s. Axawa, to sail about the first week in October.

Wellington. — The Rimutaka sailed last week -with 5,667 carcases, 921 hind-quarters, 821 legs mutton and 626 pieces, 10 hind quarters beef, from this port. Both of our local companies are preparing cargo for following steamers. Napier. — No shipments have been made during the month.
