Mr Sutter's motion, that all correspondence, and a copy of the contract in connection with the Knmara Sludge Channel, No 2, be laid before this House, was agreed to. — Mr Stout moved that Messrs Bruce, C. Buckland, Fraser, Hislop, Connolly, Hursthouse, Ross, Russell, Sutter, and the mover be appointed a committee to inquire into the subject and report m seven days. Sir Julius Yogel moved to introduce a bill to provide for a guarantee of fidelity of Government officers and to repeal the existing Act. Agreed to. The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act Amendment Bill was committed. — On clause 2, extending the meaning of incestuous adultery, Mr Stewart moved to strike out the words 41 her sister." Agreed to. — Mr Samuel moved a new clause, providing that either husband or wife could petition for a divorce if separated for four years, if either had been convicted on an indictable offence, and served not less than four years imprisonment, or if either were certified insane. After some discussion the clause was negatived. — Mr Stewards's motion, That " incompatibility of temper" showed grounds for divorce, was also lost. — Progress was reported. August 17. COMMITTEE OF BUPPLY. The House went into Committee of Supply on class 8 of the Education Department Hi-ad office, L 2590, carried; public schools, L315,51X). Industrial schools, £17,470, carried ; Minister of Justice and Justice Department, £950, carried ; Crown Land office, £2825, carried ; Native Minister and Native Department, £5533, carried ; j Native Land i.'ourt, £13.800, carried.
