Thirteen members of the permanent artillery farce stationed at Queenscliffe hare been nrrested for acts of insubordination which occurred last week. The banquet given by the citizen* of Svdaey in honour of the return of the New South Wales contingent took place last night, and proved a great success. His Excellency Lord Augustus Loftus, and Admiral Tryon were present, and the assemblage included meat of the leading men of the colony. A number of speeches were made congratulating the members of the contingent on their safe return.

The withdrawal of the five and a half million loan was not attended with any serious inconvenience. Fortunately, there is no need at present to make any financial arrangement for public works in the colony, as the Bank arrangements permit waiting for a more favourable opportunity. The loan will probably be floated m October.
