[EEUTEBB TELBGBAMB.I London, July 25. The Government have decided to offer do opposition to the Medical Belief Bill in spite ot the amendment introduced into the measure against their wishes. Reports from the hop-growing districts give a very unfavourable account of the prospects of the new crop. It is probable that the Earl of Don* oughmore will succeed Strachan as Governor of Tasmania. It is expected that Lord Lytten, late Viceroy of India, will succeed Viscount Lyons as British Ambassador in Paris. Th« wheat market is more active, and off coast cargoes are in better demand at from 34s 3d to 34s 6d. No business has been transacted in forward shipments. The weather is favourable for the crops. July 26. Aa Oxford University boat rowed yesterday across the Channel from Dover to Calais. The time occupied was four hours and a quarter. Arrived at Plymouth yesterday. — The Orient Steam Maritime Company's Austral, from Australia. Nsw 7obk, July 25. The funeral of the late General Grant takes place here on the Bth of August.
