Manchester Horticultural and Pastoral Society

The annual general meeting of this society was held at Mr Bray's office on Tuesday evening last, Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, President, in the chair. The Secretary, Mr E. Goodbehere, read the minutes of the last general meeting, and of the last committee meeting, which were confirmed. The Secretary gave a financial statement to the effect that unusual expenditure for necessary articles to the extent of £7, which, however, were now assets of the society, had left a deficiency of 245. The financial statement as read was adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with, the following being the result : — President — Mr Lethbridge; Yice-Presidents-^ Messrs Macarthur, M.H.8., Sherwill, and Roe; Secretary and Treasurer — Mr E. Goodbehere; Committee — Messrs G. W. Fowles, W. Fowles, H. Worsfbld, T. P. James, W. D. Nicholas, T. A. Price, J. H. Stevens, F. Towler, E. Worsfold, T, Evans, 8. Knight, J. Bartholomew, T. Hall. The question of distinction in classes between amateurs and professionals was then discussed, and a sub-commit-tee of five was appointed to consider and report upon the matter to the next meeting. It was resolved, That family tickets be not available to admit male members of a family over fourteen years of age, excepting heads of families. This closed the business of . the meeting, which then adjourned tali the following Tuesday evening afthe same hour and place. The Committee afterwards resolved to meet on Friday evening next.
