Government Insurance
A Wellington contemporary informs us that a curious rumour has been freely circulated in Wellington to tho effect that a movement is on foot among the friends of Sir Julius Yogel to secure for him the position of permanent head of the New Zealand Government Insurance Association at a salary variously estimated at iUOOO to £2000 per annum. It is reported that Sir Juliuß would be willing to take the position and that a majority of the Central Board might be in favor of it. As there is a majority of members ef the Board who a^e tb* nominees of Sir Julius, * we| do aoi doubt that they would vote as ho directed them, yet thp polioy:hpldjgs are represented on the said Board Irjr a stout little minority headed, by Mr George Fisher, M.H.R., aaid Mayor of Wellington, who are likely to resist with all their might and main any attempt to foist on to their shoulders even Sir Julius Yogel as a pensioner. For the latter he would be in fact although not in name, as he is utterly ignorant of insurance business,, so much so indeed that Mr Luclrie the present manager would be retained to do the work. This sort of thing ia | killing the reputation of Sir Julius.
