The annual meeting of the company will take place on the 30th. Several of the metropolitan journals to*day contain references to the demonstration in Sydney on the ooeasion of the return of the New Sonth Wales Contingent from Egypt. Tne Daily Chron* icle eulogises the speech delivered to the troops by Lord Augustus Loftus. The Fall Mall Gazette rejoices to see the spirit which through animated the Contingent. The Glebe regards the demonstration at Sydney as a gratifying testimony of the. loyalty and patriotism of the citizens »f New South Wales. Mr Samuel Morley hat declined the peerage which was offered him. The Crown Princess of Germany, having disapproved of the Marriage of her sister Princess Beatrice with Prince Henry of Battenburg, will not attend her wedding. * General Gordon's diaries have been published, and have caused an immense sensation. Ib them he compares himself to (Triab the Hittite, whom King David ordered to be placed in the forje-i most position in battle, subsequently causing the army to desert him, and thus causing his death. - * - Eio Da Javibbo, Jane 27.; The Shaw, Saville, and Albion Company's s.s.
