A deputation from softwoods warehousemen waited on the Colonial Treasurer this morning, pointing «ut that the duty imposed on certain articles it likely te lead to a large increase in clerical assistance, both by importers and Gov. erament, and that the 20 per cent, imposed on semo article! wonld tend to crash certain industries new established. They suggested a uniiorm rate on certain articles, and gave a list of those on which they considered a duty should be imposed, and Sir Julias Yogel said he would con-;, sider the matter. •• «» A passenger by the Aerangi named W. Andrews, who died from the effects ef a carbuncle and general debility, was buried at sea. Being a member of the Masonic bodj, Captain Tarpin and a member ef the craft, who were en board, together gave him as far as they possibly could a Masonic funeral. During bis illness, Mr Andrews had made himself known to Captain Turpin as a brother. The Duaedin Star says.— Ererythmg that po«*ibly could be done f#r him was done by Captain Tarpin's orders.
