(per united press association). Wellington, Juno 11. Mr Hislop, the newly-elecUd member for Oamaru, took the oath and his seat. The Speaker informed the House that he had received the resignation of Mr Grigg, member for Wakanui. Mr Stout moved, That a new writ be issued, which was agreed to. Notice was given of the usual Sessional Committees, and of several bills. Sir George Grey gave notico of thr of a bill to abolish plu ali'? of voting at elections of members of the House of Representatives. Mr Stout introduced a bill to amend the Adoption of Children Act, whioh was read a first time. Mr Pearson gave notice that ke would move next day, the Address in Keply. A message was received from the Governor informing the House that Sir Geerge Whitmore had been appointed to the command of the colonial forces. Mr Stout moved, '* That as the appointment concerns a member of the other Chamber the Government intend to bring in a bill in connection with the matter." June 12. Mr Stout said that it having been represented to the Government by the member for Waitotara that tt would be more convenient to the House generally if the Address iv Keply was not considered till Tuesday, he dewed to move, That tho motion he adjourned till Tuesday next. He understood that the mover of the Address (Mr Pearson) was quite willing that that course should be adopted. Mr Bryce said as far as he waa personally concerned he would prefer that the motion should be allowed to proceed, but he thought, in justice to absent members, that it would be hardly fair to consider the Address in Beply.
