FEILDING LYCEUM
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR.
Sir, — Lest those on the side of Christianity should be misled and disappointed, I beg to state that in following up the lecture I delivered last Sunday night, my plan is the follow- ' ing : — Ist. To give the members of the Lyceum a fair amount of time to frame and deliver their reply. As stated in your paper I have handed my manuscript over to them. 2nd. After the reply is framed and delivered, I shall (if my request is acceded to, which certainly is not unreasonable) receive an authenticated written epitome of said reply from some one acting on the behalf of the Lyceum, and then, 3rdly, I shall do my best to criticise the reply, and answer questions I did not answer last Sunday evening. lam so frequently away from Feilding on Sunday evening that it would be an absolute impossibility to repeat, very frequently, what I did last Sunday evening, and moreover I don't think the cause of truth would be promoted by my being present when the chosen champions of the Lyceum will give the aforesaid reply. From this letter it will be seen that whatever discussion may immediately follow the delivery of the reply it will be one-sided so far as I iam concerned. — I am, &c, J. Clovee.
