[BEUTBBS' TELKGBAMB.I London, May 7. It is announced that General Sir Peter Lumsden has resigned, owing to his discontent with the action of England on the Afghan frontier question. Lord Randolph Chnrehill is urging the members of the House of Commons to refuse to grant supplies to the Govern* ment, as a pretest agaimt their action in regard to the Afghan difficulty. The following telegram appear in the Melbourne Argus of tke 27 ta ult. : — April 26. The British Government has purchased frem Italy the ironclad ship Dandolo, 10,570 tons, carrying foar 100-ton guns. The Dandolo is a sister ship to theDuilio, and the two are the largest ironclads afloat. Several English Men-of-war, which were recently ordered to Vladirostock, hare arrived there, and are at present stationed at that port. Wjcllikoton. May R. The Defence Mimstor has issued an order that the New Zealand forces are to be clothed in blue cloth. Any variation)? in facings, if desired, will be allowed. In the House of Commons to-day Lord Edmund Fitzmaurice, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, stated ; that Col. Eidgway still remained in charge of the Afghan boundary commission. Melbourne, May 8. The Governments of Victoria and South Australia have endorsed the circular sent out by Dalley in regard to joint responsibility of the colonies for injuries inflicted by hostile cruisers.
