A most serious conflagration broke ont last night, winch resulted in the total de* tructioa ef Mr James Smith's "Te Aro House." This establishment was one of the largest draper's and clothier's bosi■eases in town. About six o'clock last night one assistants, in lighting the gas ta the window, accidentally set fire to seme fabrics, wliioh speedily spread and resitted all efforts to extinguish them. The Fire Brigade were on the spot without delay, but net in sufficient time to prevent the destruction of the building.
