The Feilding Star. SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 1885. The Central Bailway
_ *. — — It has been decided that His Excellency the Governor shall turn the first sod of tbe Central Railway Line at Marton on the loth inst. Our contemporary, the Advocate says, " that although the time is very short we think the. Borough Council should at once hold a meeting to make arrangements for a demonstration on so momentous an occasion, and it would bo simply a scandal if this event were allowed to pass by without being fittingly honored." We heartily agree with our contemporary, and would go even further, for we would suggest that, the day be proclaimed a public holiday on the coast, the Boroughs of Palmerston and Feilding be invited to cooperate, and that people from all parts of the coast be invited to assist by their presence to do honor to the Governor and to fittingly celebrate an occasion which will have such a tremendous influence on the future of the whole North Island and the colony at large. [Since the above was put in tpye we learn that the Government will have no ceremony at the Marton end.]
