Messrs Stevens and Gorton report :— Our sale at Awahuri on Tuesday last was not well attended, doubtless owing to the Easter holidays. We managed, however, to quit all the sheep and the larger portion of the cattle and quote the following rates :— 2J to 3-yr steers, i£3 10s; mixed cattle, various ages, £3; yearlings mixed, 255 ; mixed 18-month, 30s; calves in low condition 1 Is; breeding ewes, 6s 3d to 6s 7d ; forward ewes, 7a 3d; merino ewes, 5s Id. Messrs Halcombe and Sherwill report : We held a very successful sale here on the Bth instant. The attendance was good and the bidding f«r cattle brink. Sheep were not in such keen demand as of late. We yarded 340 head of cattle and 1,641 sheep. We must again impress upon our clients the almost absolute necessity of forwarding their entries in time to be advertised. Over 100 head of cattle came forward to the sale without due notice, and which therefore did not appear in the advertisement calling the sale. . "the following prices were realised : — Fat cowsi £3 2s to £4 iss; 3-yr steers, £5 to £5 ss; 2-yr steers. £2 5s to £2 10s; 2£-yr steers, £3 10i ; 3-yr heifers, £2 10b ; 18-month steers, £2 ss ; 2-yr heifers, £,1 10s to £1 las; yearling steers,. £2; store cows, £2 2s 6d to £3 ,; . calves, 18s to £1 ; fat sheep, 7s:9d to 8s 3d; store owes, 4s to 78; lambs (in wool), 3s 2d to4slld; ,pigs Weaners), 5s to las 6d. — Feildiug, April 9th, 1885.
