Manchester Road Board

I An ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Saturday afternoon last. Present — Messrs Bailey, Linton and Jones. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Macarthur, the chair was occupied by Mr Bailey. The minute book not being available the minutes of the last meeting could not be read. Correspondence was read as follows : — Messrs Whibley Bros. Ashurst, re royalty for splitting sleepers ; Kiwitea Hoard re the work on Wilson and Shannon's line; Mr Henaghan re falling bush for a track near his property in the Scandinavian Block ; Mr Parkhurst re compensation for felling bush by mistake on a road line at Ashurst ; Public Works Department re balance of grant under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act ; same, telegram re payment of £3034 of imprest account under said Act; Mr Wismof ski re transfer on rate roll ; Secretary Wanganui Hospital with account. Resolved, Tnat Messrs Whibley Bros application to cut sleepers on road lines be not granted. With reference to the application of Mr Henaghan, re felling bush, it was agreed to leave this matter in the hands of the Engineer. Resolved, That the application of Mr Parkhurst for payment of felling one acre of bush on road line in Mulbury street, Ashurst, bo granted on the usual terms. After passing the usual accounts the meeting adjourned.
