THE BOROUGH BANGER.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE BMli;'' s - Sic,— l shall be obliged if y*>u will allow me, through your column*, to enquire why Mr Wallace, the Banger at Feilding, yesterday morning several times passed and repassed a white calf grazing upon the road, near the Public Hall, without impounding same, and why on that occasion th«} TUnjger impounded one person's cattle in pre*ference toanothers? As oa» of *th» three eye-witnesses :^to the above/ I should like to' know where was the strict impartiality which should inflttr encethe ßanger? Sevei^wepeet^ljje persons can prove, that on anouer occasion four head of c^^e wwptrefc passing upon the public xbeA oppoKW the Ranger's own door, and he did vffi impound them; also on another occa^ sion the Banger did not impedhdttt* & same cattle, which were trespassing©* m the public road, although requested in the hearing of a Councillor, who can prove the' fact. Why does the Banger so notoriously and deliberately shut his eyes to the fact of some persons' horses, 1 cattle, and sheep trespassing on the public reads while it is wellknown fiiat other persons— some who never pay rates or rent— are allowed to have their cattle* &c., graang on ,the roads with impunity. It w time that, in justice to the pubfit, the Council should enquire . into and^ remedy the glaring state of ' thing* referred to, considering the :num*rous complaints which have been Hjideto I it, and are increasing.— l. ajn, &c., '"■'' '^ W. Abwott.
