♦ - [bETJTEBS TELEGRAMS.] Melbourne, March 10. At a meeting of the representatives of the Marine Insurance Carapanies to-day, it was decided to provide for war premiums on future policies, homeward and out wards, with Great Britain and the East, the rates to be dependent upon Home advices. The Cabinet to-day decided to communicate with the South Australian and Queensland Governments to ascertain their views regarding tho proposed Soudan contingent, and. ' only act conjointly with them, and afterwards to refer the question to Parliament, which meets on the 31st instant. Sydney, March 10. The departure of the Australia* contingent for the Soudan has been an event over shadowing all other matters during the week, eventuating to-day in immense excitement. The cheering was con* tinuous from start to finish. The order of march was seriously interrupted by the efforts'of the populace to shake hands with the gallant fellows. [pee united press association.] Wellington, March 10. The Colonial Secretary has telegraphed to Mr A. D. Bet nett. Auckland, in reply to numerous communications, stating that if a force is sent from New Zealaad it will be one worthy cf the colony, and that it will be placed under the command of reliable officers.
