Manchester Road Board
A monthly meeting 1 of this Board was held on Saturday afternoon' last. Present — Messrs Macarthur (chairman), linton, Lethbridge, Jones and Bailey: ■ 7 The minutes of the previous meejfeing were read and confirmed. '*■- *•*- The following correspondence' Hras read: — Kiwitea Road Board re expenditure on Wilson's line ; Messre o'Hara.nnd Gordon re a mistake in their contrast ; Rangitikei County Council re appointment of Inspector of roadftjrjMr O'Connor, Wellington, telegram-* re grant for Public Works; Messrs Harrison and Woodbury, Marion, objections re rate roll ■ Messrs "Warns and Beard, Ashurst, request for permission to lay a tramway. .-' Resolved, Tkat this Board pay the Kiwitea Road Board. £60 next season on condition of their completing Wilson's line this season. ' : ■-'•'• A conversation took place on &• application of Messrs O'Hara and Gordon re their contract, after which it was resolved, That the Board cannot consider the application as the tender was accepted on the lump si|m. Permission was granted to Messrs "Warne and Beard to lay a tramway along Pohangina road. - . Resolved, that the Clerk write the District Engineer, asking; him to have the drain cleared out along the railway line leading to AdsettV mill; is Jhe water is injuring the settlers .property alongside the line. .','... ~',' Resolved, That it is the intention' of this Board to strike a rate of three farthings in the £ on the rateable value of all property within the Manchester Road district for the .year, ending 31st March, 1886, such raW^to become payable on and after lst-djiy of April, 1885, in one sum.
