Rifle Association Meeting
. « (pee united fbess association) Wellington, March 9. The annual meeting of tho lifle Association commenced thii morning, about 240 men firing. The first match, the Waaganui one, 200 and 500 yards, not counting for the belt, was the first during the early part of the forenoon. However, it may be the following are the highest scores at the 200 yards, the possible being 35: Stitt, Wanganui N avals, 32; Kuchen. Wellington Naval*. 31; Stirling, Auckland Guards, 31; Raker, ! njjlewood Rifles, 81; Hackmouth. Napier Artillery, 31 ; Strachan, Alexandria Cavalry, 31 ; Anketell, Masterton It.fles 31. This Day. The weather is graad for the shooting. The Hawkes' Bay natch commenced at eleven. A telephone has been erected between the firing points at 500 and 600 yards aud the butts, and greatly facilitates the shooting. The shooting this morning is not anywhere near the average and the bursting up of champions and ex-ch: mpions *as the rule rather than the exception. Churton the present ohampiun went off altogether and at 500 yard* only made 10. For the future firing is to commence at 9 a.m. and cease at 6 p.m. _______^^___
