[reuter's telegrams.] Received February 12, 11 a.m. London, February 11. Telegrams from Soudan state thnt refugees irom Khartoum report that Fara}-h Pasha opened the gates of Khartoum to the Mahdites on January 26th, and that Gordon, while rushing out of the palace to ascertain the cause of the commotion, war slain on the threshold. Telegrams also state that nearly the whole, and not merely a quarter, of | Gordon's adherents and their families were massacred. Beceived February 12. 2.15 a.m. Melbourne, February 12. Universal sorrow is shown at the death ol General Gordon. The flags on : uhlic and other buildings are at half mast.
