Newton Stakes— Marion 1, Talebearer 2. Rally 3. Slenver. Painter, and Oknta also ran. Lady Evelyu was scratched. After several false starts the field went away moderately well, Talebearer leading, Marion last. At the top of the turn Marion went np to Talebearer, and they entered the straight together, but Marion answering to a call won by tliree-quarteis of a lenffth. Time, lmin 18see. Dividends : Lawn, £3 9s ; outside, £4 7s. Tijjredia, Lady Evelyn, ani Ugly Buck, have been scratched for the Island B y Park Stakes. Island Bay Park Stakes — Rubina 1, Pasha 2, Clogs 3.
