At the first hurdle SKamrdßk fell, and unseated' his jockey* who quickly remounted, but the horseJatad got too far behind. Coining ''doiijrn. the straight, linwood ran into, fiitet place, with Secretary close up, when a splendid race ensued betweenwood and Secretary. They took \the last hurdle together, and, after an exciting race, the latter won by two lengths. Dividend, inside, £11 2s; outside, £17 18s. After one or two false- starts the horses were sent away- to aby no means good start, -Administrator having all the best of" it, and Ugly Buck the worst. "When rwithin about eighty yards of the winning post Sou'wester came with a sudden rush, and passing both Lady Evelyn and Tigredia challenged Administrator, when a most exciting .race topk^place. Clifford rode a most resolute race, but could never get on level terms with. Administrator, who had led from the start, and he was landed a winner sby5 by a short head, Lady Evelyn a good third, half a length in rear of> Sou'wester, Tigredia fourth, Ugly Buck fifty, BlackEpsesixthjQiaiters seventh, Armourer eighth. Fusileer was pulled up and walked in. Time, 3min lQ£flec. Dividends: lawn, (L2 snares), L29 15s; outside, L9 15s. This race is admitted as one of the best ever run on a Wellington course and the excitement was intense. J In the Hack Race, Rocket,, a Southern horse, beat 10 others, doing the mile in lmin 47£se. Dividend £5. Te Aro Plate.— Rubina, 1 ; Pafeha, 2; Minerva, 3. Rally, Normbanby, Clogs, Trickster, and Putarigitangi also ran. Ugly Buck, Sou'-wester, and Talebearer were scratched. Rubina was the favourite at 2 to I, Pasha and Minerva 3 to 1, and Clogs 3 {d 1.
