FTe will atterwards travel overland to Wanganui and New Plymouth districts on a visit of inspection of charitable institutions. .1 The customs revenue collected in the oolony for last month amount to £126,26' >, as against £122,210 for the corresponding month last yeaj. Of the last months amount " Auckland contributed £29,477, Wellington £22,021, Lyttelton and'Ohristchurch £17,071, Dunedin £37,266. The total amount of customs revenue collected in the colony for the 10 months of the financial year is £1,117,148. The beer duty last month was £4922, and for January 1884, £4532. Last month Auckland contributed £1064, Wellington £427. Christchurch £856, Dunedin £1112In the 10 months of the financial year the amount is £45,938. being a surplus of £105 on the Colonial Treasurer's estimate. Timaku, This Day A man name unknown, was drowned while attempting to swim the river near its outlet from Lake Te Kapo, McKenzie . Country, on Sunday afternoon. At the annual meeting of {he shareholders of the Cheese and Bacon Factory held last night. As no cheese was yet sold it was impossible to state the financial prospects of the factory. !
