'■•■• : ■"'•.:".' y It was agreed that Mr ZaionskoVski's application Btand over till the next meeting of the Board. .-_ •.. • Proposed by Mr Saxon,.secondedby Mr Williamson^ That the <3erk be instructed to write to the Government explaining that the ixiad in the; Pohangina . which the Board wishes to have pushed on is not a deviation, but the original road, for which the contract was let. — -Carried; ~ . . , : . . . . . ; . . A long conversational discussion was held on the expenditure of the grants for certain works under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, after which it was resolved, .That the appointment of the grant proposed .by the^ Board be as follows :— £l22 on " Cheltenham Cross road ; £100 on__imbolton road ; and £100 on Mackay's road. Resolved, That 'the Engineer be instructed to-lay off the ..works proposed and call for tenders for the, same, the tenders to be in by the next meeting of the Board. Resolved, That the : Engineer be requested to give an estimate, iby the next meeting, of tiie cost of a drain and culvert on the top end of the deviation of Mackay's Line. The Chairman remarked -hat he saw in one of the papers something about the Board haying got judgment in the Wang*aiiiu Harbor Board case, and that the defendants intended to appeal, and thought it 'strange that if it were so they, had received no official intimation of the fact. Mr Saxon was surprised to hear of its being published, as he had not heard of it before. It was understood that nothing definite could be; said about the matter till the Board had. received some official' information.. The general opirdon of the Board was that an appeal would only entail furti> er costs to the defendants, as they must ultimately have to pay.the rates- : i: ; .-,•.-: -.-i.y Resolved,.
