-» L PEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, This Day. A gold discovery of a promising character is reported to have been recently made in the Waikato district. Of the gold found 8 ounces wrs water-worn, and was obtained from some washing- taken out of a creek. The gold was taken to the Banfi of New Zealand at the Thames, and one of the pieces thus obtained weighed one pennyweight. Nelson, This Day. The Motucka correspondent of The Colonist wires :— F. Brisley shot himself this morning.. His monetary affairs are believed to have been in a bad state. Tlio unfortunate man was head master of the Government school, and also secretary to the Foresters' and Odd Fellows' Lortees in this 'district, and lea res a wife and largo family. i ,
