The Fire at Auckland
[FEB TOUTED PBESS ASSOOIATIO]r.] Avcklajtd, This Day. The insurance on the fire are: — Fire Assurance, L 60 0; Phonix. L 600; Equitable L 260; National, L 260; New Zealand. L 250-, United, L 260; Colonial, L2SO. The South British had a risk originally of L 7400 which they had latterly redneed to L 4500, and this policy expired on the 31st December last, when a fresh insurance was affected m the Norwich Union, Proposals, with the necessary documents and information, for an additional insurance of L3OOO, were forwarded to Sydney for acceptance by the Sydney insurance offices on Thursday last, per s.s. Bingarooma. Of course the proposals will eventuate in nothing as information of the fire will have been cabled to Sydney prior to the arrival of the steamer. The Anckland Timber ~| Company's mill & machinery are insured in the South British f or LBOOO. all reinsured again, save L 1000; but the timber in the yards is not insured, being held at the company's risk. The amount of tjhe timber destroyed by fife on Saturdaj night was estimated at from L 3500 to L3OOO, but on examining the yard yesterday the loss was found not to be so great probably from LI6OO to L2OOO.
