Sir Julius Vogel's Enemies
It would be interesting to know who the London agent for the " Press Association" is ; for it would then explain why such a political bias is exhibited in all telegrams coming from there. One or two very doubtful messages have been sent about Sir Julius Vogel, and the Telephone Company ; in fact, they actually appear to be untruthful for the Wellington Post states that— " A cable message has been received from Messrs Mackretls and Co, who were solicitors to the Consolidated Telephone Company, to the effect that the threatened action against Sir Juhu/s Vogel was not likely to be proceeded with." Not satisfied with trying to inj ure a Government through one of its members, there is a jjarty, who, it appears, is ready to sacrifice everyone and everything in order that a vindictive spirit may be gratified. The Special Correspondent has now taken the trouble to send a message by cable to the Press Association as follows :—" The \New Zealand loan is not received with favour." How has the " Special" ascertained such a fact — and at Christmas time too when business is entirely suspended in London. We expect he has been talking to some " illgrained political antagonist to the present Government" — some of the remnants of the old Stafford party — and thus inspired would try to make the depression more severely felt than it yet has been. — Exchange.
