A telegram has been reoeived by the Gorernment from Lord Derby with refer, ence to the German annetation in the Western Pacific; His Lordship states that the annexation by Germany is not the result of any concert between the German and English Governments, and that the Imperial Government is now in communication with Germany on the matter. Lord Derby • adds that the British protectorate now includes a considerable section of the north-western (query north-eastern) part of New Guinea, besides the Louisade Archipelago, Woodlast, Deneastrux, and other important islands. r
