London, January 1. The cargo of frozen mutton on board the steamship Elderslie, from Oamaru, has been landed in good condition. Tenders for the Auckland loan of £2,500, at a minimum of £107, will be opened on the sth inst. Cooktown, January 2. Intelligence has reached here that German warships have hoisted the Imperial flag at Huon Gulf, on the N orthern coast of New Guinea. Received January 3, 12.30 a.m. London, January 2. ln connection with the recent assumption by Great Britain of the ownership of tbe district of Saint Lucia, East Africa, it is now announced that Luderitz and Co., of Brewen, claim that their representatives acquired Saint Lucia from the Zulu king, Dinizulu, in November last.
