A despatch has been received from Lord Wolseley, stating that the boats which have been used tor the transport of the British expedition up the Nile fulfilled hi* expectations. The troops are in excellent health, and fit for any trial of strength with which they may meet. The work of bringing the boats up the nrer proved very- hard, but was borne cheerfully. Both officers and men are in excellent spirits, and a 1 thoughts are now bent upon the approaching march to Khartoum, and the relief of that city and General Gordon.
