Frozen Meat Trade
The N.Z.L. & M.A. Company report, under date December 4, as follows : — C»ble advices from London received during the past week announce a slight re-action in this market, with prices displaying a decline on the rates current a month ago. We believe this will prove to be a temporary fluctuation due to some special cause. Our mail correspondence shows that the provincial trade is being rnpidly developed, which serves to strengthen our confidence in the success of this important industry. Dunedin. — The ss. Victory sailed on the 22nd ultimo with 5609 carcases, sheep and lambs, from the Burnside Refrigerating Work 8, and 4<X) do from Messrs Thomson Bros. Freezing Works, Port Chalmers. Cxiristchubch. — Since our last report the Ruapehu has cleared with 8578 carcases, and the works at Belfast are now engaged preparing a shipment for the Kaikonra. The Canterbury is also i loading on account of Mr John Grtgg. Oamabu. — Up to date 3,500 carcases have been taken on board by tho ship Marl borough, now loading for London direct. Wellington.— During the month the ss, Victory and Ruap««hu have take« from this Port 3000 and 4571 carcases of mutton respectively.
