Crown Lands Sale rate tendered, and a fee of £1 10s for lease and registration, to be lodged with the Commissioner of Cr'-wn Lands, at the Crown Lands Office. Wellington, not latter than 4 o'clock p.m., on Wednesday, the 10th December, 1884 'j'he tenders will be. opened at the meeting of 'he land Board on .' !:ursday. the. flth December (the following day), at 10 o'clock a m., when the highest tenderer, if the tender slial! equal or exceed the unset annual reiital per acrn fixed by the Board. will be declared the lessee. Th<renderers must appear at the Lan>: Board, either in person or by on agent authorised in writing, on the day on which the tenders are opened. Plans and schedules of the sections, and copies of the regulations under which leases will be sold and issued, also forms of tender and declartion respectively, can be obtained at the District Lund Office, Wellington ; at any of the other Land Offices in tbe colony ; an'l may also he ,«een at the Railway Stations and Post Offices in the Wellington Provincial District. The numbers of the section nnd block, with the name of district, must lie written on the covers. The letter being on " Public Service only," and addressed to tbe Commissioner of Crown Lands, need rot be stamped, being free of postage ; neither doe? tho declaration require to be stamped. Any person of eighteen years of age and upwards may become a lessee under this system. In 'the event of any person tendering for two or morr leases the deposit of a sum equal to one half-year's rent of the tender largest in amount shall be sufficient, together with the sum ot £1 10s to pay for the lesse and registration thereof, paid either in cash, marked • cheque, or bank draft, trade payable to the Receiver of Land Revenue, Wellington : Provided that in the case of a person tendering for two or more leases, such a3 he may in thf aggregate become the lessne of under the Ac*, namely, in the case where the lands comprised in the several leases adjoin each other, in such case the deposit shall be a half-year's rent at the ratetendere i for each such lease, end also the sum of £1 10s in respect of each such lease, the fee for preparation and registration of same. Any lessee who has fulfil'ed all conditions of improvements within six years can acquire the freehold of his lease on payment of the price fixed at the time the lease was granted, provided the payment is made within eleven years of the commencement ot the lease. Note. — Limits of area for each lessee : No lease shall be made to any persen owning, nor shall any person be capable of becoming the lessee under a lease, or a. sublessee, who owns any freehold land, or lane held under lease or license under thf Crown whereby such person shall become either the owner, tenant, ov occupier in the whole, either by himself or jointly with any other persor. or persons, including the lands comprised in the lease, of a creator area than 640 acres anywhere in th" cilony. The sections comprised in the Schedule are situated at Pahiatua, in the Manyaone Block, in the Kopuaranga District, about. Dreyer's Hock, near Dreyerton, arid front upon or are adjacent to the main r-'iid connecting Ma&terton and WuudviMe. Branch roads have been formed through the sections at Driver's Rock, Central Managone, Hawera, and Pahiatua, at distances resp. c tivuly from Mastertjn of about tourteen miles, thirty-one mi es, thirtyfive miles, and forty miles. The Mangahao sections are within fourteen miles of the Town of Woodville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about s-'ven-teen miles north of Masterton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at <=everal points, Tlie whole of the sections are covered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu, hinau, . rata, kahikatea, with totara in plac-s ; tho undergrowth is, as a iv c, heavy ; the general character of the soil is good, and in some places is of firstclass quality, tho formation being limestone, clay marl, sandstone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large Huts as well as broken ground wi'hin the urea : it is well watered, and, as the climate is also very favourable the land, should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastorai and, to some extent, agricultural purposes.
