The majority of the sections comprised in 'he above Schedule are situated at Vohiatua, in the Man»a--ne Rioek, in the Kopuaranga District, about Dreyer's Rock, near Dreyerton, aot! front upon or aie adjacent to the main road connecting* Masterton and Woodville. Branch roads have been formed through »-he s-c-ions at Dreyer's Hock, Central Mangaone, Hawera. and Pahiatua, at distances respectively iron; Masterton of about fourteen miles, thirty-one miles, thirty-five miles, and forty miles. The Mangahao sections are within fourteen miles oi the town ot Woodville. The J-ato 'Irunk Railway irom Wellington to Ns.pier is now being constructed to a point, about pevditeen miles nortn ol Masterton. bites for railway stations have been selected at several points The" whole of the sections ore covered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu, hinau. rata, kidiikatea, with totara in places ; the undergrowth, is, as a rule heavv; the general character of the soil is good, and m some places is of first-class quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, sandstone, &c. The country is generully hilly and undulating, but there are large flats as well as broken j»rouud within the area ; it is well-watered, and, as the climate is also very favourable, th<- land should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral ai.d, to some ex.tent, jigriI cultural purposes. y~ I The Kaiwhata ect«»n= Ito 5 consist <>f high hilly iand, of fair and inferior t quality, covered \Mih lif_ht bu.h, u.ixeu scrub, and manuka, with occasional small open patches.
