THE WOOL MARKETS.
The first New Zesiland wool sale was ti#ld in Clsristchurch on Monday last, wlien the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company submitted , 1056 bales of greasy and scoured wool*, t>{ which 947 were sold under the hammer. ; The wool chiefly consisted of scoured half-bred and cross-bred sorts, for which there was animated competition, the prices for the former touching lOd and the latter Sd per pound. Greasy merinos Were in small supply and fetched up to Dd, scoured half-bred to 14d There was ft large attendance of buyers, and the Sale passed off with great spirit.
