The vessel is broken in three pieces. TiMAßtr, This Day. A man named Thomas Sparks was committed for trial at Geraldine yesterday for rape on a girl between 13 and 14 years of age. Chbistchttbcr, This Day. A telegram from Akaroa states that the barque Jessie Alice Clyde ran aground at Horse Shoe Bay during the heavy weather last night. Nineteen souls are on board, only one apprentice having as yet succeeded in getting ashore. There is a heavy sea on. A steamer with a volunteer crew and a life boat have been been despatched from Akaroa to the scene of the accident.
