ABSURD NOMENCLATURE.
TO THE EDITOE OF THE STAB. Sib,—No doubt many of your readers will feel obliged to you for publishing on Thursday last the official addresses of certain public schools in the district. Any one having business with the committees will be able now to copy these addresses and keep them by them, as it would be more than a Philadelphia lawyer himself could do to keep them in his memory. A more bungling and misleading piece of business on the part of our Colonial officialdom it would, I think, be difficult to find. We are told that Manchester school is at Bunnythorpe. Now if there is a school at Bunnythorpe, surely it must be the Bunnythorpe school; but no, Bunnythorpe school il at Taonui. Another difficult j now comes in, for while one would naturally suppose I that if there is a school at Taonui it must be the Taonui School, such is not the I case, for Taonui school is on the Rangi- ; tikei Line. To make the medley, however, still more confusing, another Taonui school is dragged in, and called the " Upper." and this again is not at Taonui but on the Ashurst road. Here then are two- Taonui schools, neither of which is' at Taonui, while the one that is at Taonui bears another name altogether. The affair has so muddled my brain already that I must now leave off.—l am, &c, Belteshazzab.
