Examination of Beaconsfield School
The above school was examined on the 7th instant by the Inspector, Mr VerekerBindoa, M. A., and resulted as follows :— Number on roll, 30; presented in standards, 17 ; examined in standards, 17; passed in standards, 12 ; failed in standards, 5. Percentage of passes to number on ''coll, 40'O; percentage of passes to thofte presented, 70o ; percentage of roll nunjite'r presented to pass in standards, 66-6.. Standard I.— Presented, 7 ; passed, 6 ; percentage, 85*7. Names of the passed : Daniel Davie% Edward Phyn, Mary \Sailace/EmriiaWilliamß. Amelia Hanker, Margaret Davies, Standard 'ii.— Presented, 5 ; passed, 3; percentage, 600. Names of the passed : Rhys Daves', Sarah Paul, Rosa Sinclair. .Standard lll.— Presented, 3; passed, 1; : percentage, 333. Name of the passed: —Walter Gfice. '■' ' Standard IV".— Presented, 2; passed, 2; . percentage, looo. Names of the passed: — Amy Griice, Helen Phyn. Infant class. — 13 were examined in this class, all of whom passed but one, and whose work in each case ib recorded as fair, very fair, and good. The remarks on tfeo standards may be summarised as follows: — The reading and dictation of the girls in the fourth standard excellent and poetrj well recited; grammar very good ; composition fair ; history very good in the casie of one candidate ; altogether the work of this class was very satisfactory. The work of the candidate in the third standard was very good in reading, spelling, grammar, and geography ; history, average merit. The reading, spelling, geogragliy, and arithmetic in Standard II are marked good for those' who passed. The work of tho chiM'ren in Standard I. showed fair average attainments in all subjects, the two boys, Daniel Davies and Edward Phjn, obtaining respectively full marka in arithmetic apd reading, and one girl, EminiaWilTiams, similar marks in reading and arithmetic. Further Rhys Davies is credited with full marks in spelling, dictation, and' arithmetic; Rosa Sinclair ig similarly credited in reading, dictation, and^geo^gfaphy ; and Amy Grice with having passed in ail subjects. Writing generally '.niifc satisfactory ; slates of junior classes not properly ruled ; and copy" bobfcs' riot' properly graded.
