Daring the passage of the Bowena from Mercury Bay to Auckland last night four drunken bashmen, enraged at a refusal of the captain to give them liquor, assaulted him and several of the crew, who tried to arrest them, and then wrecked the saloon. The captain succeeded in confining them in the saloon, and returned to Mercury Bay for police assistance. Here the men were put in irons by the constable and brought on to Auckland. The Municipal Council passed a cordial rote of thanks at its meeting last night to Messrs Ormond, Kusaell. Smith, Locke, Sir G. Whitinore, and the Hon. J. N.
