News has been received from Wairoa of the death of three native children by burning at a place called Whakaki on night. A party of fifteen were holding a tangi over the body of an old woman and went to sleep. The whare caught fire and three of the children were burned to death before they could be rescued. Dunkmn, This Day. ■ The case, Campbell r. Kennedy and others was settled out of court by Mrs Campbell paying £3KX) and Sierwright [and Beid's costs.
