Special to " Star." [bbvtkb's tblbobams.] Caiko, Sept. 30. Intelligence has been receded here of an accident which occurred during the passage of one of the cataracts of the Nile. A boat containing two officers and thirty. six men was wrecked on one of the islands in the river and two mea lost their lives.
Reports are to hand from Dongola that sickness has broken out among the British troops now stationed there, and that three deaths hare already occurred. London, Sept. 30. The cargo of frozen mutton by the steamer Coptic, from New Zealand arrived in good condition.
Sir F. Dillon Bell has been requested to continue the office of Agent-General for New Zealand.
In monetary circles there is a strong feeling in favour of the universal inscribing of colonial loans.
The Economist cautions New South Wales against excessive borrowing.
The prospects of the New South Wales loan are considered excellent.
It is reported that a constable will be despatched to New Zealand for the purpose of arresting William Sheehan, who is suspected of having murdered his mother, sister, and brother, at Castleton, a township in the borough of Rochdale, Lancashire.
Mr Gladstone, speaking at Carlisle, denied that the fall of the House of Lords would involve that of the Crown. He said if the Franchise Bill were passed the redistribution of seats would be proceeded with immediately.

Intelligence has been received here that an Imperial edict has been issued ordering the Governor of Canton to publish a proclamation to encourage the people to fight against the French. The edict also forbids poisoned food to be supplied to foreignars. Great excitement is reported to exist among the Chinese natives, especially at the treaty ports. Caibo, Sept. 30. Telegrams from Dongola announce the arrival there of Colonel Stewart and his staff from Khartoum.
General Lord Wolsley has arrived at Esueh town on the Nile, one hundred miles north of Assouan.
