Feilding School Committee

An ordinary monthly meeting of i &b Committee was held in the v schbblhouse

last evening. Present-— Messrs Nicholas (chairman), Watts (secretary)* Towler, Bray, and Rutherford.

The minutes of the three previous meetings were read and confirmed.

Mr Bray proposed, and Mr Rutherford seconded. That Mr H. Worsfold be elected to fill the vacancy in the committee caused by the resignation of Mr Sherwill; Carried. " X^'.

Mr Worsfold th^n took: hit seat.

The masters' monthly report was read, showing the total average attendance to have been 208, the average' increase on the roll 10, and the average decrease in the attendance 13. The report said there had been much sickness among the scholars.

The entries in the log book ior the past six weeks were also read and were very satisfactory, excepting, as regarded the falling off in attendance owing to the hid weather and sickness. 'A.

A letter was read from Mr Bindon, the Inspector, giving the datqg of the school examination.

The master also wrote reporting the faot of Miss Lightboun' having entered upon her duties as newly appointed assistant teacher.

It was resolved that Mesdames Jones, and Nicholas, be recommended assistants to the Inspector in the examination in needlework, and that the seoretary write

to those ladies asking them if they would he willing so to act. It was agreed that the chairman, the secretary, and Mr Towler meet the Inspector on the occasion of the examination. Messrs Bray and Rutherford were appointed the visiting committee for the ensuing month. Accounts amounting to £10 lis were passed for payment, and the committee then adjourned.
