COMMEECIAL.

Wellington, September 15.

Hasell and Co. report as follows : — Potato market very unsettled ; speculators ask an advance of £1 to £1 10s on previous quotations, and prefer shipping to Australian porta at a loss rather than accept prices offered here ; independant holders would do well to place their stocks on the market at once, as present high rates cannot be maintained. Prices of grain are without alteration. The fruit market is now quite bare, but large shipments are expected to arrive on Monday., Poultry is very scarce, and commands unusually high prices.
