: The ploughing match at Awahuri yesterday was fairly attended, and was, on the whole 1 , -very successful. Sixteen ploughs were -going, and the following are the pArtictilars of the principal events :— Double furrow— -J. Gray 1 ; single furrow, — Gregg, JL. .Garrett .2 j _u_; * and outs — Garrett . 1 ; hest finish — Garret lj ; second class, double furrow — Herbert Hunt 1 ; hest team— Jackman l l,,Gray 2: The 'dinner held' in the evening at the l ndymion Hotel was a great success. Mr Fraser was chairman and Mr Burcham a most excellent vice. ' We learn from an exchange that' Colonel Williams, director of the Army remount, 'operations in 7 India, reached Christchurch a few days ago from the North. He is visiting the Australasian eojonies with fl view of opening up a more extended export market from this side for' horses required for military, use in pfndia. __oi.-' breeders oi this coast take special note of this. At one time Wanganui horses were considered the best; in*the market.'and commanded the highest prices.
