NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION.

(PKB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, August 29. Mr Stout, in a lengthy speech, moved (he no-confidence motion. He dubbed the new Government as another off-shoot of the Continuous Ministry, whom the country had rejected at the last elections. Mr Wakefield, Sir Julius Yogel and Major Atkinson followed with lengthy speeches. After supper the House resumed, Mr Guineas moving an adjournment of the debate to enable the Government to develope tbeir policy. He expressed himself as favorable to the present Ministry. Mr W. F. Buckland seconded the amendment. He said the Parliament was tbe concentrated essence of scheming and doddery. Mr Shrimski objected to a further adjournment. Mr Monteith supported the adjournment, and Mr Gillies objected. Mr Macarthur objected to the Government being turned out. The amendment was lost by 43 to .37. Mr Stout replied briefly, atter which a division was taken with the following result :— Ayes : 43— Allwright, Ballance, Bevan, Barron, Bradshaw, Brown, J. Noes: 35— Atkinson, Bruce, Buchanan, Buckland, Connolly, Cowan, Dodson, Fitzherbert, Fulton, Grigg, Guiness, Hakueue, Hatch, Hurst, Hobbs, Hursthouse, Herst, Lake, Locke, Levestam, Macarthur, Menteath, Moss, Mitchelson, Newman, O'Connor, Peacock, G.
