The police have discovered a gang of French burglars and coiners who have been carrying an operations in this city, One man has already been arrested and the capture of the others is expected to be effected shortly. Colonel Bai linger Booth, son of General Booth, of the Salvation Army, arrived in Melbourne by the s.s. Indus. There was a grand meeting in his honour at the Town Hall last night. Arrived, this afternoon, Union steamship Rotomahana, from the Bluff. This Day. Poppens the absconder will be con-vi-yed back to Wellington by the steamship Rotomahana leaving to—day.
