His death was acceler- ' ated through a shock received by fire' breaking out on his premises some little time ago. He was b'O years of age. He was colonel in the 39th Eegimont on full pay, and served through a porti of the Crimean war, beinp present at' the storm,ing of Sebastopol, in ■ which- he took an active part; < He served -in Cauada and various parts •of • India. . He was ian intimate friend of Chinese Gordon He leaves -a wife and grown up family.'
