Sydney, August 14. In the Legislative Council last night the Hon. W. B. Dalley, Attorney-General moved the second reading of the Land Bill. The debate is fixed for I uesday aext. Hanlan and Beach are both in fine form for their approach ng contest. The betting is now two to one against Beach. Received August 16, 0.56 a.m. Hobabt, August 15. The Hon. W. B. Giblin, Premier, has resigned office on account of ill health, and efforts are now being made to reconstruct a Ministry. Melboubne, August 16. W. Poppens, the absconding hotelkeeper of Wellington, was brought up at the Police Court to-day and remanded until Thursday nexVbail being allowed in £200. r 7 ' Three more cases of suspected smallpox were yeoterday reported to the health officers. Sidney, August 15. Much interest is being manifested in the race which will take place to-morrow between Beach and Hanlon, and it is thought that both will row a great race.
